Morlen Sinoway's Bronze Vessels

Lori Nguyen

MSA-Bronze-Vessels.jpg

We are proud to finally introduce a new series of Bronze Vessels by Morlen Sinoway.  Please take a peak at the animated GIF to understand the design behind this series. Morlen's artist statement can be found below.

Artist statement

Using ceramics to convey architectural intent, I have created “Totems” to
imply architecture. My “Architecture” is influenced by the past, present, and the
future. They are reminiscent of Babylon, in the past, influenced by the raw
concrete material and shapes used by Bertrand Goldberg in Chicago and Paolo
Soleri the architect of Acrosanti in the Arizona Desert. The vessel objects are
modular, providing options and choice. The future is THE FUTURE. Future
architecture will be choice…

I am in awe of Surrealism, DADA, the Fluxus, Design, and Architecture. We are
all unique, we are all ordinary, imperfections are intentional and beautiful!

THE PURPOSE

When the objects are either joined individually side by side or in “Totem” form,
then combined together, they are intended to create a formal “Urban
Architectural Landscape”, a city of structures if you will, that are meant to be
played with…

They are playful and fun! The spectator is the Architect, the manipulator, and
the city planner. They are scale less. Change is good!

GAN Indoor rugs & accessories

Lori Nguyen

GAN Rugs are available at Morlen Sinoway Atelier - Chicago - including Mangas Originals

Here at MORLEN SINOWAY we want to make sure you know our product variety and brands well. Today, we'd like to make you more familiar with GAN rugs and accessories from Spain.

GAN is GANDIABLASCO's collection of indoor rugs and accessories all handcrafted from natural materials, including jute, wool, linen, cotton, and silk. Founded in 2004 by José Gandía-Blasco, the initial thought was to reinvent interior floor coverings by using innovative designers focusing on traditional methods of weaving and knotting to inspire their designs.

Above you see an image of their collection - Mangas Original, designed by Patricia Urquiola. This design was inspired by hand knit sweaters and hand loomed of 100% Wool in a variety of color combinations. We love this fresh take on floor covering and the rest of their collection is just as exciting.

GAN creates high-quality rugs and accessories perfect for home, hospitality, and contract use. Take a look at a few of their most popular products below. We hope they spark some interest for your next project!

A WORD FROM THE ATELIER:

"Variety is the spice of life"

Boy, what an exciting Salone in Milan. What a whirlwind of week! It's been a couple years since I had last attended and everything changes yet the song remains the same. The products were abundant with a new energy of purpose and stature. The overstimulation of Milan during Design Week is contagious - the visuals, the presentations, and the art are all stellar, inviting, and inspirational. The old city mixed with the new, creating a backdrop unlike any other. A juxtaposition creating a contrasted stage of delights.

Design Week is also a time to mingle with old friends and create new ones. Our curiosity never ceases to amaze me always revealing layer upon layer of fresh products and accessories. As it would have it, the weather was bright and so were the opportunities. We've broadened our selection by adding some creme de la creme international furniture, lighting, and flooring. Providing a selection that is unsurpassed with unique choices for all of your projects - big or small.

Today is another bright day and we are so fortunate. Please visit us in person or via our website.

Ciao.

A WORD FROM THE ATELIER:

"Out with The Old and in with The New"

With a fairly mild Winter behind us, we are welcoming - with open arms - a sunny, invigorating Spring! We are infusing all of Spring's eternal optimism in the Winter's void. Energizing the soul and getting the creative juices moving once again.

With the Winter Furniture Shows behind us and the introduction of fresh designs, colors, and textures beginning to fill our Brands portfolios - we are yearning for the grand exposition of Milan. It is Spring's icing on the cake. The overstimulation of Milan has no rival. The days and evenings of participating in one of the most creative market places in the world, provides enough hope, innovation, and creativity to even awaken Godzilla out of a sound sleep. We embrace this energy with open arms just like we embrace Spring in Chicago. Milan is Spring and we will bring back the essence of it's productive yield of fine fruits.

We'd like to dedicate this Spring Newsletter to the memory and passing of our dear friend and colleague, Peter Klick. He lived and flourished in this world of creativity. You will never be forgotten. RIP Peter.
